Weekending.au (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates weekending.au (the “Site”). This page explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
We are based in Australia and this policy is written to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Because our advertising and analytics partners operate internationally, we also address relevant international frameworks (such as the GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws) below.
1. Information we collect

- Contact/comments: Any information you voluntarily submit through a contact form or comments section, such as your name, email address, and message.
b) Information collected automatically
- Log data: Like most websites, our server automatically records information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time/date of visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (pixels, tags, beacons) to operate the Site, remember preferences, and support advertising and analytics, as described below.
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site (e.g. pages viewed, time on site, referral source). Google Analytics collects data through cookies and similar technologies. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your cookie preferences. Learn more about how Google uses data at Google’s Privacy & Terms site.
2. Advertising
Our Site is monetised using affiliate partnerships with ads powered by Journey by Mediavine, an advertising management service. Mediavine and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to collect and process information (such as IP address, device identifiers, and browsing data) in order to provide personalized advertising and measure ad performance.
For more detail on the specific partners Mediavine works with, the data each one collects, and their individual privacy policies, please visit Mediavine’s Partners page.

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies – required for basic site functionality (e.g. WordPress security cookies).
- Analytics cookies – to understand site usage (Google Analytics).
- Advertising cookies – used by Journey by Mediavine and its partners to serve relevant ads.
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking some cookies may affect Site functionality or ad relevance.
4. How we use your information
We use the information collected to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
- Send newsletter updates you’ve subscribed to
- Respond to enquiries submitted via contact forms
- Analyze site traffic and usage trends

We do not sell your personal information.
5. Disclosure of information overseas
Some of our service providers (including Google, Mediavine, and its advertising partners, and our email newsletter provider) may store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. In line with APP 8 of the Australian Privacy Principles, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the APPs, including relying on providers with their own published privacy and data-protection commitments (linked throughout this policy).
6. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data breach notification
If we experience a data breach that is likely to result in harm to affected individuals, we will comply with our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under the Privacy Act, including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
8. Children’s privacy
While our Site does not contain adult content, is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you and request access to it
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information
- Lodge a complaint if you believe we have mishandled your personal information
If you wish to exercise these rights, contact us at weekending.au@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
